The Brummbar (Sturmpanzer IV, Sd.Kfz.166) was a German assault gun built on the Panzer IV chassis for close infantry support, especially in urban fighting. It carried a short 15cm StuH 43 howitzer in a tall, heavily armoured casemate, firing a heavy high-explosive shell against buildings and strongpoints. The mid-production (III. Serie) vehicles introduced a revised superstructure and driver's periscope, and from 1943 most were coated in Zimmerit anti-magnetic paste.
