Vallejo Mecha Color — Complete Colour Guide for Gunpla & Mecha Modellers
Vallejo Mecha Color
Complete colour listing · Water-based acrylics formulated for mecha, sci-fi, and anime-style models
Built for Gunpla, sci-fi, and anime-style modelling
Vallejo Mecha Color is a dedicated range for mecha, Gunpla, and sci-fi plastic model painting. The formula is optimised for the smooth surfaces and sharp panel lines of injection-moulded kits — flowing evenly over large flat panels without pooling, and layering cleanly for the solid, saturated colours that define anime-inspired mecha aesthetics.
The range includes 40+ opaque base colours plus washes, special effects, fluorescents, metallics, and varnishes in a single system. The washes are formulated to flow specifically into panel lines on plastic surfaces, and the special effects range covers oil stains, fuel marks, and rust texture for weathered mecha builds. All colours are intermixable and compatible with Vallejo Model Color and Game Color.
All bottles are 17 ml water-based acrylic in Vallejo’s dropper bottle format. Click any SKU to check current availability.
Thinning and airbrushing Mecha Color
Mecha Color is formulated to brush straight from the bottle and flows well over primed plastic. For airbrushing, thin with Vallejo Airbrush Thinner (VLJ71161) at roughly 1:1 for base coating. Add a few drops of Airbrush Flow Improver (VLJ71362) to prevent tip dry on fine detail passes. Do not thin with water alone — it breaks down the binder.
