Preowned, Resealed, Mint Parts off sprue
Kiev (Project 1143 Krechyet) was the lead ship of the Soviet Navy's first class of fixed-wing aviation vessels, commissioned in 1975. Designated a "heavy aviation cruiser" in Soviet classification to allow passage through the Turkish Straits under the Montreux Convention, she combined an angled aft flight deck for Yak-38 VTOL aircraft with a massive forward armament of SS-N-12 anti-ship missiles, SA-N-3 and SA-N-4 surface-to-air missiles, torpedo tubes, and twin 76 mm guns — a unique hybrid with no Western equivalent. The class represented a significant expansion of Soviet naval power projection capability during the Cold War. Aoshima tooled this kit in 1979 as Waterline Series No.131, one of the earliest 1/700 scale kits of a Soviet carrier.
