AMT6438 - AMT 1/25 Don Garlits' Wynn's Charger - WWWEB10105000
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
“Big Daddy” Don Garlits is the most famous name in drag racing. In March 1970, a transmission explosion at Lions Drag Strip in Long Beach cut his car in half and cost him part of his right foot. While he recovered, Garlits and his crew chief Connie Swingle set out to build a safer dragster by moving the engine behind the driver. The result was this 1971 Wynn’s Charger, known as the Swamp Rat 1-R. It won the 1971 NHRA Winternationals on its first outing, and within a few seasons rear-engine cars had taken over Top Fuel. Garlits’ layout is still the basis of every Top Fuel dragster racing today.
