The second generation Camaro arrived late, showing up in February 1970 rather than the previous autumn, which is why enthusiasts still call these cars the 70 and a half. The delay was worth it: the new body was longer, lower and cleaner than anything in the class, and the early cars wore the full chrome front bumper that many consider the best looking version of the design. The Z28 got the LT-1 350 small block, a solid lifter high compression engine borrowed from the Corvette, which made it a road course car first and a stoplight car second.
