The "Bison II" was the second-pattern German self-propelled heavy infantry gun built on a Panzer II chassis, mounting the bulky 15 cm sIG 33 heavy infantry gun in a tall open-topped armoured superstructure. To carry the big gun, the hull was lengthened and widened with an extra road wheel per side. A small number were built and sent to North Africa, where they served with the Afrika Korps in 1942, giving infantry support units a hard-hitting mobile gun.

This is the ALAN Ltd. (St. Petersburg, Russia) 1/35 kit of the Bison II, from their Military Miniature Series (No. 012). As a short-run kit it includes injection-moulded plastic, a photo-etched detail fret, and a decal sheet, with bilingual reference text on the instruction sheet.
