Description
A12008 - Airfix - 1/72 Handley-Page Victor B.Mk.2(BS) - PREOWNED118973
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Handley Page Victor was the third and most technically adventurous of Britain's V bombers, its crescent wing and high T tail giving it remarkable high altitude performance. The B.Mk.2 introduced the far more powerful Rolls Royce Conway, an enlarged wing and improved electronics, and the B.Mk.2(BS) designation covers the Blue Steel aircraft, modified to carry the stand off nuclear missile semi recessed in the bomb bay. Operated from RAF Wittering, these aircraft stood at the sharp end of the airborne deterrent before the role passed to the Royal Navy's Polaris submarines. The Victor went on to a long second career as a tanker, retiring in 1993.
