The North American F-86 Sabre is widely regarded as one of the finest fighter designs of all time, earning its reputation in the skies over Korea against the MiG-15 and serving with air forces around the world for more than four decades, including over 1,800 licence-built by Canadair for the RCAF and its allies. The F-86F introduced the larger "6-3" wing without leading edge slats for better high-altitude performance, and later blocks such as the F-86F-40 could carry bombs, making the Sabre a capable fighter-bomber. Airfix's modern 1/48 tooling captures the F-86F-40 with two colourful USAF schemes.
