Description

AIRA03082A - Airfix 1/72 North American F-86F/E(M) Sabre - WWWEB10114735

Preowned, Resealed, Mint inside, Box worn

The North American F-86 Sabre made its name over Korea, where it fought the MiG-15 for control of the skies. The F-86F had a more powerful engine and the "6-3" wing with an extended leading edge, which made it a better match for the MiG at high altitude, and it could carry bombs for ground attack. In 1953, US Marine Corps pilot Maj. John Glenn flew Sabres with the USAF's 25th Fighter Interceptor Squadron on exchange and shot down three MiGs in the last weeks of the war. Sabres went on to serve with air forces around the world, including Yugoslavia, which flew ex-RAF Canadair-built F-86E(M)s.
