Description
A03059 - Airfix - 1/72 Shorts Tucano T.1 (Discontinued) - WWHP119875
Preowned, Original seal, Mint
The Shorts Tucano T.1 is the British development of the Brazilian Embraer EMB-312, chosen to replace the Jet Provost as the RAF's basic trainer. Shorts of Belfast reworked the design substantially with a Garrett TPE331 engine, a four-blade propeller, a redesigned nose, revised wingtips, a ventral air brake, a strengthened canopy, and a fatigue life extended by half. In service since 1989, the Tucano gave student pilots roughly 130 hours before they moved on to the BAE Hawk, and in its glossy black trainer scheme it was a familiar sight over northeast England. This Airfix 1/72 kit covers two RAF schemes including the "City of Leeds" display aircraft.
