The de Havilland Vampire was the second jet fighter to enter Royal Air Force service, and its distinctive twin boom layout with a short central nacelle made it unmistakable. The side by side two seat T.11 became the RAF's standard advanced jet trainer through the 1950s and into the mid 1960s, and the Central Flying School flew the type in high visibility red and silver from Little Rissington. Sweden was a major export customer, operating the trainer as the J-28C, and one of these aircraft continues to fly with the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight. Around 3,300 Vampires of all marks were built, a quarter of them under licence abroad.
