Description

AIRA02058 - Airfix 1/72 De Havilland Vampire T.11 - WWWEB10114757

Preowned, Original seal, Mint

The de Havilland Vampire was the second jet fighter to enter Royal Air Force service, following the Meteor, and its twin boom layout with a stubby central nacelle made it instantly recognisable. Frontline fighter duty gave way to training work through the 1950s, and the side by side two seat T.11 became the RAF's standard advanced jet trainer, generating thousands of hours until the type left service in the mid 1960s. Around 3,300 Vampires of all marks were built, a quarter of them under licence abroad, and Switzerland kept its trainer derivative flying until 1990.
