Description
AIR258 - Airfix 1/72 Russian Pe.2 - WWHP111704
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The 1968 first issue of Airfix's Pe-2, a new tooling that year, in the classic Type 3 "Airfix-72" red-stripe box with Polish Air Force checkerboard markings on the artwork. Series 2, Pattern No. 258 — end panels advertise the Fairey Battle and Skyraider from the same range. Builds the standard FT-style dive bomber with dorsal turret; Soviet and Polish decal options.
The Petlyakov Pe-2 was the Soviet Union's premier tactical bomber of WWII, a fast twin-engine dive bomber that was built in greater numbers than any other Soviet bomber, over 11,000 airframes, and served with the Soviet, Polish, Czechoslovak, and Bulgarian air forces. Fighter-like speed made the "Peshka" famously hard to intercept.
