The Lockheed C-130 Hercules first flew in 1954 and went on to become the most successful military transport ever built, serving with more than 70 nations and remaining in production today. The C-130E introduced greater range with large underwing fuel tanks and entered service in the early 1960s, flying with the USAF, the RCAF and many other air forces, while the RAF's version, the C-130K, became the Hercules C.1. This vintage Airfix Series 9 kit, made in England in the 1970s, builds into a model with a wingspan of approximately 56 cm and offers markings for both the USAF and RAF.
