The A300 was the aeroplane that made Airbus real. Britain, France and West Germany went in together in 1969 on a twin engine wide body for the short and medium range routes that were choking on traffic, with Aérospatiale building the cockpit and centre fuselage, Deutsche Airbus the rear fuselage and fin, Hawker Siddeley the wings and CASA the tailplane. It entered service with Air France in May 1974 and was the world's first twin engine wide body, the layout every large airliner uses now. This Airfix boxing is the A300B-2 with Lufthansa markings, from the Sky King series, made in England.
