The Hawker Siddeley Trident was designed around BEA's requirements for a short to medium haul jet, emerging with three rear-mounted Spey engines, a T-tail, and a compact swept wing tuned for high cruise speed. The 1C was the initial production variant, entering BEA service in 1964. The Trident is best remembered as the first airliner in the world to make a fully automatic landing in scheduled passenger service, in 1965, pioneering the autoland systems now standard across commercial aviation. This Airfix 1/144 kit is from the Classic Airliners Special Edition range, with markings for British Airways aircraft.
