Description
AIR03025-8 - Airfix 1/72 Westland Lynx AH Mk.1 - WWHP111605
Preowned, Original seal, Box worn
The Westland Lynx AH Mk.1 entered service with the British Army Air Corps in 1978 as a multi-role utility and anti-tank helicopter, designed as a joint development between Westland and Aérospatiale under the Anglo-French helicopter agreement. In the anti-tank role it carried eight TOW wire-guided missiles, operated from low-level cover in pairs using terrain masking tactics developed for the Central European battlefield. Fast and highly manoeuvrable, the Lynx also set a world helicopter speed record of 400.87 km/h in 1986. The type served in the Falklands, Gulf War, and Bosnia before being progressively upgraded to the AH Mk.7 standard. Airfix tooled this kit in 1976, the same year the type entered service, making it one of the earliest 1/72 scale representations of the Lynx.
