Description
AIRA02017A - Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire PR.XIX - WWWEB10112982
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The PR.XIX was the top end of Spitfire development, a Griffon powered photo reconnaissance machine that carried no guns at all and relied on height and speed to stay alive. It managed 370 mph at 40,000 feet with a range of 1,500 miles, and the pressurised cockpit made those altitudes survivable. RAF PR.XIXs flew operational sorties into the 1950s, including the type's last operational Spitfire flights from Malaya in 1954.
Skill level 1, one flying hour. Finished model is 138 mm long with a 156 mm span. 44 parts.
In the box
- Grey styrene sprues with fuselage halves, wings and tail surfaces
- Clear canopy with pressurised cabin glazing
- Griffon nose with five blade propeller and spinner
