The Curtiss SB2C Helldiver endured a troubled development spanning nearly four years before entering combat service, but went on to become the principal US Navy carrier dive bomber of the late Pacific War. VB-17 made the Helldiver's combat debut on 11 November 1943, launching from USS Bunker Hill against Japanese shipping at Rabaul in one of the war's most significant carrier strike operations. This 2006 Accurate Miniatures release reboxes the Pro-Modeler 1/48 SB2C tooling with new parts including a three-blade propeller and solid dive brakes, along with a dedicated Rabaul-theatre decal sheet and photoetched fret.
