The M3 half-track was the U.S. Army's standard armoured personnel carrier of the Second World War. It combined a truck front end with a tracked rear bogie, which let it carry a full rifle squad cross-country under armour, and thousands were built by White, Autocar and Diamond T for American and Allied forces. The Ford GPA quarter-ton amphibian, or "Seep", was a jeep built into a boat-shaped hull for river crossings and beach landings, and it was used in Sicily, Normandy and on the Eastern Front. The Harley-Davidson WLA motorcycle served as the Army's main dispatch and scout bike.
