Preowned, Resealed, Mint
Mutsuki was the lead ship of the Mutsuki class, the last Imperial Japanese Navy destroyers built before the Special Type (Fubuki) class. She was completed in 1926 and was given the name Mutsuki in 1928. She had a distinctive double-curved bow, four 12 cm guns and was among the first Japanese destroyers armed with the powerful 61 cm torpedo. In December 1941 she took part in the invasion of Wake Island. During the Guadalcanal campaign she escorted reinforcement convoys. On August 25, 1942, during the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, she stopped to rescue survivors from the burning transport Kinryu Maru and was sunk by U.S. Army B-17 bombers. This highly detailed limited edition from Yamashita Hobby builds Mutsuki as she appeared in 1941 and includes a photo-etched detail fret.
