WNW32004 - Wingnut Wings 1/32 Bristol F.2b Fighter - WWHP113734
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
Frank Barnwell’s Bristol F.2 began in 1916 as a reconnaissance aircraft to replace the BE2. Fitted with the new 190 hp Rolls-Royce Falcon V12, it became a two-seat fighter. 48 Squadron took the F.2a into action over Arras in April 1917 and flew it like a slow observation machine, and the results were disastrous. Once crews learned to fly the “Brisfit” aggressively, with the pilot’s forward Vickers gun and the observer’s Lewis gun on a Scarff ring, it became one of the most effective fighters of the war. The improved F.2b followed in mid-1917. About 4,350 were built, and the type stayed in Commonwealth service until 1936.
