Description
WMOY05 - Welsh Models 1/144 Armstrong Whitworth AW.27 Ensign I - WWHP111717
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Armstrong Whitworth A.W.27 Ensign was the largest airliner built in Britain before the war, a four-engined high-wing monoplane ordered by Imperial Airways for the Empire air routes. Chronically underpowered on its original Tiger engines, the small fleet of 14 soldiered through wartime BOAC service after re-engining with American Cyclones. The kit's decals depict G-ADSR "Ensign" itself, the class leader, in Imperial Airways London livery.
This is a limited-production multimedia kit from Welsh Models of Barry, Wales, specialists in 1/144 airliners that mainstream manufacturers never touched. The Yesteryear Series covers pre-war and golden-age transports.
Box contents:
- Vacuum-formed airframe components with clear parts
- Resin and white metal detail parts
- Waterslide decals for Imperial Airways G-ADSR
- Assembly instructions
Note: vacform construction; recommended for modellers with previous vacform experience.
