Vallejo Model Air — M495 Light Grey

Subject: Aircraft

US Army/Navy light grey (approx. FS 36495 / FS 36622 range) — used for aircraft undersides and naval finishes, approx. late 1930s–1940s. Closely related to USN Non-Specular Light Gray. Applied to: F4F-3/F4F-4 Wildcat (undersides), SBD-2/SBD-3 Dauntless, TBD-1 Devastator, TBF-1 Avenger (early), PBY-5 Catalina, SOC Seagull, OS2U Kingfisher; USAAF aircraft including early P-40B/C Warhawk, B-17C/D Flying Fortress (undersides), B-18 Bolo. Used in Neutrality Patrols (1939–1941), early Pacific War including Coral Sea (1942) and Midway (1942).

Application: Water-based acrylic. Thin with water for brush painting, or Vallejo Acrylic Thinner for airbrushing. Add a few drops of Vallejo Flow Improver to cut surface tension, improve levelling, slow tip dry, and allow water-based acrylics to spray like a lacquer or solvent-based paint. Aim for a milk-like consistency.
