Description
VAL72008 - Valom 1/72 Armstrong Whitworth Mk.V - WWHP113495
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Albemarle came out of a 1938 specification for a medium bomber built from non-strategic materials, so it used a steel tube fuselage and wooden wings clad in plywood, with a tricycle undercarriage that was still unusual in Britain. It was a disappointment as a bomber and only 32 of the 602 built were completed as such. The rest became special transports and glider tugs, first used over Sicily in July 1943 and later towing Horsas and dropping pathfinders on D-Day and at Arnhem.
- 1/72 scale short run injection moulded kit from Valom, suited to modellers with some limited-run experience
- Grey styrene frames plus a clear frame for the extensive nose and cabin glazing
- Resin detail parts including engines, wheels, exhausts and interior fittings
- Photo-etched metal fret for instrument panel, seat harnesses and small detail
- Aviprint waterslide decals for one aircraft: V1823, coded P5-S of No. 297 Squadron, in D-Day markings
- Instruction booklet in Czech and English with parts map, assembly steps and a colour painting guide
- Invasion stripes are painted, not supplied as decals
- Finished model measures roughly 326 mm span and 254 mm length
