The Petlyakov Pe-2 was a Soviet twin-engine dive bomber and one of the most widely produced combat aircraft of the Second World War, with over 11,000 built between 1940 and 1945. Fast and manoeuvrable, it served as a dive bomber, reconnaissance platform, and heavy fighter, earning the nickname "Peshka" (Pawn).
