The Sd.Kfz. 251 was the standard German armoured personnel carrier of World War II, produced in greater numbers than any other German half-track and used across every theatre from 1939 to 1945. The Ausf. D was the final and most numerous production variant, introduced in 1943 with a simplified hull featuring fewer angled armour plates and straight rear doors, which significantly reduced manufacturing time. Over 10,000 Ausf. D vehicles were built, serving in roles ranging from infantry transport and fire support to command, engineer, and artillery variants.
