The Type 89 (PHZ-89) is China's 122 mm self-propelled multiple rocket launcher, mounting a 40-tube launcher derived from the Soviet BM-21 Grad on a tracked Type 321 utility chassis. It can fire all 40 rockets in roughly 20 seconds, and carries a 40-round automated reload pack forward of the launcher. The system entered PLA service around 1990 and equipped divisional artillery regiments.
