TKM5010 - Takom - 1/72 Japanese Battleship Yamato Type 94 46cm Gun WWHP112912

The Type 94 46 cm/45 naval gun was the largest-calibre weapon ever mounted on a warship, carried in three triple turrets aboard Yamato and her sister Musashi. The Japanese Navy officially designated the guns as 40 cm calibre to conceal their true size, a secret closely guarded until after the war. Each turret weighed approximately 2,774 tonnes and could hurl a 1,460 kg armour-piercing shell over 40 kilometres. Takom's 2020 kit depicts Turret No.1 as a stand-alone display subject, building up to 50 cm in length at 1/72 scale and including a deck section as a display base.
