Description
TKM2160 - Takom 1/35 M247 Sergeant York
The Takom 2160 1/35 M247 Sergeant York is a detailed plastic model kit of the U.S. Army’s ill-fated Cold War self-propelled anti-aircraft gun developed under the DIVAD (Division Air Defense) program. Built on a modified M48 Patton chassis, the M247 was designed to counter low-flying aircraft and helicopters using twin 40mm Bofors L/70 autocannons, but it ultimately suffered from performance and radar reliability issues, leading to cancellation after only a small number of prototypes were produced.
Takom’s kit captures this distinctive and rarely modeled vehicle with sharp surface detail, a highly accurate turret assembly, and a well-detailed hull based on the M48 platform. It reflects the unique hybrid design of the Sergeant York, combining Cold War U.S. armor engineering with advanced (for its time) radar-guided anti-aircraft systems. The kit is popular among modern armor enthusiasts for its unusual subject matter and strong detailing potential.
