Description
TAM60321 - Tamiya 1/32 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVIe - WWWEB10112557
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The Spitfire Mk.XVI was essentially a Mk.IX airframe fitted with the Packard-built Merlin 266 engine, produced under licence in the United States. The "e" suffix denotes the E-type wing, which replaced the earlier universal wing with a simplified bay housing either two 20mm Hispano cannon or a single .50 cal, alongside a second 20mm. It entered RAF service in late 1944 and served extensively in the fighter-bomber role over the European front, remaining in RAF and export service into the early 1950s.
Completed model measures 302mm length, 311mm wingspan.
