The M4A3E8 was the most refined production Sherman variant, combining the Ford GAA V8 engine with the horizontal volute spring suspension (HVSS) system and a 76mm gun in a new wide-mantlet turret. Introduced in late 1944, it offered a significantly smoother ride and better cross-country performance than earlier Shermans. The "Easy Eight" designation came from US Army ordnance shorthand (E8 = experimental suspension package) and saw heavy use in the final push into Germany in 1945, later serving in Korea where it faced North Korean T-34/85s on equal terms.
