The Wehrmacht made wide use of bicycles throughout the Second World War as a simple way to move infantry. German military bicycles were built by various manufacturers to standardized parts, usually fitted with a rear luggage carrier and a frame-mounted box for ammunition and grenades. Late-war examples were often stripped of pedal rubber, headlamps, and fenders due to material shortages.
