The SU-122 was a Soviet self-propelled assault gun built on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank, mounting a 122 mm M-30S howitzer in a fixed, fully enclosed casemate. Introduced in 1943, it was used to provide direct fire support and to engage enemy armour and fortifications, seeing action at Kursk.. Tamiya markets the kit as a "tank destroyer," part of its Military Miniature Series.
