Description
TAM35039 - Tamiya 1/35 US M3 Lee Mk I - WWHP111427
Preowned, Resealed, Mint
The M3 Lee was developed as an interim solution while the M4 Sherman was still under development, entering US Army service in October 1941. Its unusual layout — a limited-traverse 75mm gun in a hull sponson paired with a turret-mounted 37mm — was a pragmatic compromise dictated by the inability to produce a large-diameter turret ring quickly enough. Despite the awkward configuration it packed significant firepower for its time, and saw extensive action in North Africa. Total Mk.I production, including British-ordered vehicles, reached 4,924 units. The British variant with a different turret was designated the Grant.
Tamiya's original 1974 tooling, reboxed multiple times; the 2013 boxing (this release) carries the current MM Series No.39 branding. No photo-etch included.
