Mazda entered three 787Bs for the 1991 Le Mans 24 Hours, and the sister car number 55 famously took overall victory, the first and still only win by a Japanese manufacturer and the only one ever achieved with a rotary engine. This kit covers the number 18 car in Mazdaspeed livery, driven by Johansson, Kennedy and Sala, which put in a solid run of its own to finish sixth. Tamiya's 1/24 Sports Car Series kit reproduces the Group C car's aerodynamic form accurately, and the rear cowl can be detached to display the four rotor engine beneath.
