The Peugeot 206 WRC defended its 2000 double title with only minor revisions for 2001, retaining the transversely-mounted 2-litre four-cylinder turbo with longitudinal gearbox. Although Marcus Grönholm lost the Drivers' Championship to Richard Burns, Peugeot claimed the Manufacturers' title for a third consecutive year. "Rebox" of Tamiya's original 206 WRC tooling (24221), released 2001 with 2001 Monte Carlo Rally markings. Sports Car Series No. 236.
