Volvo's 1994 BTCC campaign with the 850 Estate station wagon is one of motorsport's most memorable left-field entries. In partnership with Tom Walkinshaw Racing, Volvo converted the 850 wagon into a competitive touring car powered by a 1984cc inline-five DOHC engine producing over 280 bhp, with a six-speed sequential gearbox and front-wheel drive. Lammers and Rydell each achieved a 5th place finish during the season — and the car became the first racing car in BTCC history to use an exhaust catalyst. "New parts" rebox of the original 850 Estate tooling (24152), released 1995. Sports Car Series No. 162.
