Launched in 1981, the DR30 Skyline restored the RS badge to real meaning. Its FJ20E twin-cam sixteen-valve four made 150 hp at introduction, and the turbocharged FJ20ET that followed in 1983 lifted output beyond 190 hp, making it one of the quickest Japanese sedans of its day. The sharp-edged, slab-sided bodywork gave the car an unmistakable silhouette, and its success in Super Silhouette and Japanese touring car racing cemented its reputation. The DR30 remains one of the most collectible Skylines of the era.

Tamiya's 1/24 kit reproduces the road car with its deep front air dam, squared-off lines and period alloy wheels.
