The Yamaha SRX-600 debuted in April 1985 as an air-cooled 600cc SOHC single-cylinder "big bore" roadster, pitched as a stylish, driver-focused alternative to the multi-cylinder mainstream. Its double-cradle high-tensile steel frame, twin rear shock absorbers, and 18-inch wheels gave it strong handling credentials for both city and touring use, while the YDS (Yamaha Duo Intake System) dual-carburettor setup broadened the power delivery across the rev range. The SRX-600 was a cult machine in Japan and became a reference point for the neo-classic single-cylinder trend.
