Cutty Sark was launched at Dumbarton, Scotland in 1869 as one of the last and fastest of the great British tea clippers, racing cargoes home from China before steamships and the Suez Canal ended the trade. She went on to set record passages carrying wool from Australia, and today she is preserved in dry dock at Greenwich as the world's last surviving tea clipper. Revell's 1972 Ye Olde Ships Gallery kit presents her as a half-hull wall display, finished with gold antiquing wax and mounted on an antique map of the East Indies.
