The Porsche 911 GT1 EVO was Porsche's factory GT1-class contender for the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans, fielded by the official Porsche AG team under Mobil 1 sponsorship. An evolution of the road-homologated GT1 introduced the previous year, the EVO featured revised aerodynamics front and rear — including headlight styling that previewed the then-upcoming 996 generation 911 — and was timed at over 200 mph on the Mulsanne Straight. Both factory entries retired from the 1997 race, but the programme laid the groundwork for Porsche's overall Le Mans victory with the GT1-98 the following year.

This is Revell's 1999 North American rebox of the 07217 tooling, issued with new decals covering the two 1997 Porsche AG/Mobil 1 Le Mans entries.
