The Unimog was built to go where ordinary trucks could not, with portal axles, huge ground clearance, and power take offs at both ends for mounting equipment. Municipal fleets across Europe put them to work as winter service vehicles, hanging a Schmidt plough on the front and a salt spreader on the bed.

This is Revell kit 7503 in 1/24, tooled in 1987. Moulded in orange and black with a detailed chassis, cab interior, engine, and knobbly tires, plus the Schmidt snow plough, side wing, and spreader body. The decal sheet is a big one, with hazard striping, Schmidt and contractor logos, and registration plates for a range of German, Swiss, Austrian, and Dutch operators. Finished model is 32.3cm long.
