The Jeep CJ-7 was introduced for 1976 as a longer-wheelbase companion to the CJ-5, offering improved interior space and the option of an automatic transmission. In the late 1970s, American Motors Corporation offered a series of factory appearance packages on the CJ line to capitalise on the off-road lifestyle trend — the Golden Hawk was one of these, featuring a gold and tan graphic package with a hawk motif on the hood, offered on CJ-5 and CJ-7 models from approximately 1979 to 1981. At 1/16 scale the completed model is a large and imposing display piece.
