In 1944, German crews in Italy converted a small number of Tiger I tanks into recovery vehicles. Most were used by schwere Panzer-Abteilung 508. They removed the main gun, fixed the turret facing rearward, and mounted a jib crane on it with a hand-cranked winch, so the vehicle could lift engines and heavy components in the field. Rye Field Model's detailed 2016 kit is marked for vehicles "311" and "890" and has colour profiles by AMMO of Mig Jiménez.
