The Williams FW23 was the first fruit of Williams's new partnership with BMW, which had returned to F1 as an engine supplier for 2000. Powered by the BMW P80 V10, the car showed genuine pace in 2001 — Ralf Schumacher took three victories (San Marino, Canada, and Germany) and finished third in the Drivers' Championship. Juan Pablo Montoya impressed in his debut season, taking a win at Monza. The Compaq/Nortel Networks blue and white livery was one of the most recognisable of the early 2000s.
