PT-109 was an Elco 80-foot patrol torpedo boat of Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 2, driven by three Packard V-12s and armed with torpedoes, machine guns and a 37 mm gun lashed to the foredeck. On the night of 2 August 1943 she was cut in half in Blackett Strait by the Japanese destroyer Amagiri, and her skipper, Lieutenant junior grade John F. Kennedy, led the surviving crew on a long swim to a nearby island and eventual rescue. All-new Revell tooling, now discontinued.
