The Harrier GR5 was the RAF's version of the second-generation Harrier II, developed jointly by British Aerospace and McDonnell Douglas from the US Marine Corps AV-8B. Its larger composite wing, raised cockpit and extra weapons pylons gave it roughly double the payload and range of the first-generation Harrier, and it entered RAF service in the late 1980s before being upgraded to GR7 standard. This Revell reissue of the Italeri tooling is marked for ZD466 "AB" of No. 3 Squadron at RAF Laarbruch, West Germany, in 1990.
