Oriana was built at Vickers-Armstrongs for the Orient Line and entered service at the end of 1960 as the fastest liner ever to work the Australia route, crossing from Britain via Suez in a way that made the old Cape passage look leisurely. She carried migrants out and holidaymakers back, then finished her career cruising before retirement in 1986 and a second life as a moored attraction in Japan and later China. The box promotes her as Britain's newest luxury liner, which dates the original artwork precisely.

Revell first tooled this kit in the early 1960s as H-376, and this boxing is the 50 Years of Revell special edition, a reissue in a faithful reproduction of the period box with the promotional band still attached. The box invites you to frame the lid, which tells you something about how these were sold. Easy to assemble, and the finished hull is about 20 inches long.
