PMEP3001 - Premiere Models 1/72 DH Sea Venom FAW 21 - WWHP113813
Preowned, Original seal, Box worn
The de Havilland Sea Venom was the navalised, two-seat all-weather version of the Venom night fighter. It had a strengthened airframe, folding wings, an arrester hook and long-range radar. It entered service with the Fleet Air Arm in the mid-1950s as the Royal Navy’s first all-weather jet fighter. The FAW 21 added a more powerful engine and improved radar, and later versions had Martin-Baker ejection seats. Sea Venoms flew ground-attack missions from British carriers during the 1956 Suez Crisis. Variants also served with the Royal Australian Navy and, as the Aquilon, with the French Navy. This limited-edition Premiere kit, produced with Tasman Models, builds a FAW 21 of No. 890 Naval Air Squadron at RNAS Yeovilton.
